David Hawkins Among Ten Candidates Seeking a Position on Board of Governors

The D.C. Bar today announced that David Hawkins is among the ten candidates seeking a position on its Board of Governors. As noted in Hawkins’ campaign statement to the DC Bar:

Hawkins is an experienced litigator and a veteran of bar leadership positions in DC. He represents landowners in eminent domain cases and, after 15 years with Vinson & Elkins LLP, he opened The Hawkins Law Firm PLLC. David has served as President of the Bar Association of the District of Columbia and Chair of its Young Lawyers Section. He led the BADC’s “Operation Crackdown” pro bono initiative to combat drug-related nuisances and organized events to educate attorneys, promote community service, instill collegiality, and advance diversity in the profession. Hawkins graduated from Dartmouth College and Duke University School of Law. He is a Barrister, teaches trial advocacy for NITA at Georgetown University, and coordinates alumni interviews for Dartmouth in Washington, DC. If elected, Hawkins would bring the perspectives of both a large-firm partner and a small-firm owner to the implementation of the D.C. Bar 2020 strategic objectives.
